Ecuador La Papaya Washed
Roasting on Wednesday each week
Tasting Notes: Mango, Delicate Florals, Caramel
Our latest arrivals come from farmer Juan Peña in Ecuador, a former long-stem rose producer who turned to coffee after extreme weather destroyed his flower fields. Since 2010, Juan has gone on to grow some of the best coffee in Ecuador, gaining recognition all over the world (and most recently, winning the title of 2018 Notable Coffee Producer from Sprudge). We’re presenting two lots of La Papaya, both the Typica varietal: one Washed Process, and one Natural Process.
The washed lot of La Papaya is all about nuance. In the cup, there are layers of sweetness accented by delicate florals, and notes of mango, dried fruit, melon, and caramel. It’s the type of coffee you never want to stop sipping.
Roasting once per week. Orders placed on the stated roast day will not be roasted until the next cycle!
When will my package ship?
Generally, we try and ship all packages the next business day from when the order was placed. If you ever have a question on the status of your order, just shoot us a message via our contact form.
Do you offer free shipping?
All orders over $35 get free shipping!
How do you ship?
All shipments are done via USPS Priority Mail. Packages generally arrive in 2-3 days, depending on your proximity to Philadelphia.
Do you ship internationally?
We do offer international shipping but it can be pretty expensive, especially overseas. If you are interested in buying coffee internationally, please drop us a line via our contact form.
Is your coffee organic and/or fair trade?
While some of our coffees may be certified organic or fair trade, we do not specifically look for either of these certifications when buying, and do not market them as such. Our sourcing goals are always quality and flavor focused, and we buy from producers and importers we trust to provide us with coffee that fits into our ideology. As green coffee quality increases so do prices. Because of this, we typically pay well above Fair Trade pricing for our single origin coffees.
How fresh is my coffee when I receive it?
We roast Monday through Friday each week, so generally, we try and ship coffee within 24 hours from roast whenever possible. With our shipping times, that means you should always receive your coffee within 2-5 days from roast, depending on your location and proximity to Philadelphia.
Do you have recommendations for brewing?
Yes! First and foremost, whenever possible, grind directly before brewing. This will help maintain freshness, and help you get the most from your coffee. Additionally, we recommend a ratio of about 1:16.8, (so about 22g of coffee for a 12oz cup). If your brew is tasting too weak, try using a finer grind size; and if it’s a slower, heavier brew, try to make the grind more coarse. If you have any additional questions, or want to get into more detail, feel free to drop us a line in our contact form.
